Overview

In the Products and Services for a Global Market course, you’ll learn how to adapt and conform your products and services to differences in regulatory, legal, cultural and consumer/client requirements in international markets. Analyzing how these differences may impact the cost, product design, packaging, labeling, product testing, and service delivery, and then developing strategies around these custom aspects, is key to your long-term success in any international target market.

You’ll have up to 3 months from the date you register to work through the course at your own pace and take your exam. The exam is offered online in a multiple-choice format. FITT’s standard online refund policy applies to all FITTskills online courses.

Frequently asked questions

How long do I have to complete a course?

FITTskills courses are completed over 3 months. Your assessment deadline will be 3 calendar months after the date you register.

The courses and workshops are self-paced, so the time required will vary from person to person depending on how you study, your pre-existing knowledge of the course or workshop material, and other factors. We generally estimate it will take 30-45 hours to complete a course if you are completely new to international trade, or closer to 15-20 hours if you already have 2 or more years of experience.

Do I get a certificate once I successfully complete the course?

We recognize your development in our FITTskills program with the following global trade credentials:

Can I take specific modules instead of the whole course?

The FITTskills workshops cover the same material as the FITTskills courses, but are divided into smaller sections (modules) for those interested in completing specific sections on their own or to focus on learning the material one topic at a time.

Can I extend the course beyond 3 months?

Yes. You can receive up to three 30-day deferrals for a single course or workshop. Your first deferral for a specific course or workshop will be complimentary, and a second or third deferral for that same course will be $50 each plus applicable taxes. For your first complimentary deferral, please send an email to info@fitt.ca. For your second or third deferrals for a specific course or workshop, please use the Assessment Deferral Request form.

Can I take the final exam more than once?

You are eligible to re-write a failed FITTskills assessment within 90 days of the original assessment date. There is no limit to the number of times an assessment can be re-written. However, each re-write must take place within 90 days of the previous re-written assessment deadline, and there is a fee of $100 plus applicable taxes per re-write. You can request to re-take an assessment by filling out an Assessment Registration Form.

Is there a refund policy?

A refund, minus a course/workshop withdrawal processing fee, may be granted if you formally request a refund from a course/workshop within 7 days after the registration date, provided the course/workshop assessment is deemed not to have been written. No refund will be issued if you withdraw more than 7 days after your registration date.

Course/Workshop Withdrawal Processing Fee:

The withdrawal processing fee is equivalent to 30% of the net amount paid per course/workshop. The net amount paid is calculated as the list price minus any applicable discount.

To Request a Refund:

Send an email to info@fitt.ca stating your full name, course/workshop title, date of registration, and reason for refund request.

Can I earn this course credit through my prior learning and experience?

Yes! We have two options for consideration:

1) FITTskills Challenge Exams: If you have 3+ years of work experience in international trade and are well-versed in the topics covered in the course, you can earn this course credit by passing a Challenge Exam. Learn more about the FITTskills Challenge Exams guidelines here.

OR

2) Portfolio Submission Process: You can apply for equivalent FITTskills credit(s) based on past work experience, professional development, credentials and/or education. You can apply to receive credit for one or more of the six FITTskills courses through the portfolio submission process; you will need to complete the balance of the FITTskills courses/assessments, if applicable, through FITT or FITT educational partner. What export/import professionals are saying

The FITT program opened my eyes to many aspects that I had overlooked in the past, such as the best market entry strategies, as well as the cultural aspects, and how you should adapt your products and services to your targeted market.
Louei Ali, CITP|FIBP, Director of Business Development, Canada TOPP Co.
The courses provide a great framework for understanding how, for example, marine insurance or licensing agreements would typically work in international markets. Once you know those general principles it’s much easier to find information specific to a certain country.
Tanita Alexandridis, CITP|FIBP, Senior Associate, Advisory Services, Export Development Canada
With FITTskills courses, I found an opportunity to enrich my career by adding knowledge of many topics to my business foundations. The courses were a great opportunity for me to get hands-on international commerce experience.
