How do I maintain the CITP®|FIBP® designation once I’ve earned it?

To maintain your CITP®|FIBP® designation you must remain a CITP in good standing by paying your annual FITT CITP®|FIBP® dues. We also recommend that all CITP®|FIBP® designation holders undertake at least 30 hours of professional development each year to maintain their industry knowledge and skills.

CITP®|FIBP® designation holders are required to agree to and comply with the concepts of competency and integrity detailed in our CITP®|FIBP® Standards of Ethical Conduct guide. These standards provide direction for CITP®|FIBP® professional-conduct in terms of responsibilities to individuals, organizations, the community and the profession. This guide also addresses issues of conflict of interest.

How much does it cost to renew the CITP®|FIBP®?

The cost to renew the CITP®|FIBP® designation each year is $270, the same as the cost for your first year of certification included in the original application.

My CITP®|FIBP® has expired, but now I want to renew it. What do I need to do?

Even if your CITP®|FIBP® designation has expired, you can still renew your designation via the online membership renewal form in your user account. To access it, go to your FITT user page, sign in, then click FITT Members from the menu on the main part of the screen and Membership Renewal from the resulting dropdown menu.

How can I expand my network and connect with other CITPs?

On FITT’s website, you can use the Membership Directory to find CITPs and other members by name, title, company and location. CITPs also have access to the Speakers Bureau, where they can add their name for potential speaking opportunities or look for speakers for events.

On social media, you can join the CITP group on LinkedIn, or follow FITT’s pages on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. We also host monthly #TradeElite Twitter chats with CITPs and other expert professionals as moderators or panelists – to learn more about this opportunity, please send an email to

On our TradeReady blog, you can learn more about other CITP designation holders who have been profiled through our CITP Spotlights. If you’re a CITP and would like to be profiled in a CITP Spotlight article, please complete this form to get started.

I already have the CITP®|FIBP® designation, but I don’t see myself in the Membership Directory. How do I add myself to the directory?

Due to various privacy concerns, you must manually opt in to be listed in the Membership Directory. To add yourself, first sign in to the FITT website. Once you’ve done so, click FITT Members from the menu on the main part of the screen and My Profile from the resulting dropdown menu. Once you’re there, you’ll see a field where you can write a short bio about yourself, and a list of checkboxes allowing you to control which information is listed in the directory along with your name. You’re free to include as many or as few of those fields as you choose. Once you’re done, just click save at the bottom, and you will appear in the directory.
