The Incoterms® 2020 online course, presented by FITT and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC), is designed to help international trade professionals gain an understanding of the latest edition of the Incoterms® rules (which came into effect on January 1, 2020).

The International Chamber of Commerce Incoterms® rules are used in contracts to clearly communicate the obligations, costs, and risks associated with the transportation and delivery of goods, providing clarity for sellers and buyers and helps facilitate trade. 

This course provides background, details of Incoterms® 2020 definitions/rules and obligations, and details of the main changes that have taken effect.

This professional training is excellent for beginners and will also serve as an in-depth refresher with important updates for experienced professionals.

You’ll have up to 12 months from the date you register to work through the course at your own pace and take your exam. The exam is offered online in a multiple-choice format. FITT’s standard online courses/workshops refund policy applies to Incoterms 2020® Training.

The course material is estimated to take 6 hours to complete. Additional time may be required to read the textbook (optional) and complete the exam included with this course.

Frequently asked questions

How long do I have to complete the course?

You'll have up to 12 months from the date you register to work through the course at your own pace and take your exam.

Do I get a certificate once I successfully complete the course?

By successfully completing the exam for this course, you will earn the Incoterms 2020® Training Certificate. Successfully completing this course does not earn credit towards earning the FITT Certificate in International Trade and FITT Diploma in International Trade.

Can I extend the course beyond 12 months?

Yes. You can receive up to three 30-day deferrals. Your first deferral will be complimentary, and a second or third deferral will be $50 each plus applicable taxes. For your first complimentary deferral, please send an email to info@fitt.ca. For your second or third deferrals, please use the Assessment Deferral Request form.

Can I take the final exam more than once?

You are eligible to re-write a failed assessment within 90 days of the original assessment date. There is no limit to the number of times an assessment can be re-written. However, each re-write must take place within 90 days of the previous re-written assessment deadline, and there is a fee of $100 plus applicable taxes per re-write. You can request to re-take an assessment by filling out an Assessment Registration Form.

Is there a refund policy?

A refund, minus a course/workshop withdrawal processing fee, may be granted if you formally request a refund from a course/workshop within 7 days after the registration date, provided the course/workshop assessment is deemed not to have been written. No refund will be issued if you withdraw more than 7 days after your registration date.

Course/Workshop Withdrawal Processing Fee:

The withdrawal processing fee is equivalent to 30% of the net amount paid per course/workshop. The net amount paid is calculated as the list price minus any applicable discount.

How many Professional Development Units (PDUs) do I get for completing this course? ​

CITPs can earn 6 PDUs upon successful completion of the Incoterms® 2020 Training course.
